Privacy
The Adult holds the Tutoria account. The learner never signs in. If the learner is under 18, the Adult must be their parent or guardian.
Speaking practice
The microphone is to hear them practise reading words aloud.
A short clip of each try leaves this phone so it can be scored. We keep the score and progress, not the recording.
We do not use practice audio to train models. We do not use learner data for ads, marketing, or tracking.
Who scores the clip
An AI from Google or OpenAI scores the clip for us. Before the first clip, the Adult confirms they are the learner's parent or guardian.
Only the clip and the word being practised go to that company. Nothing that names the learner goes with them.
The company may use the clip only to score it, to check for misuse, and where the law requires. It must protect the clip the same way we do.
Neither company uses the clip to train its AI, except that Google may use it to improve its checks for misuse.
To check for misuse, Google may keep the clip for up to 55 days, and OpenAI for up to 30 days. If a check flags a clip, staff at that company may look at it.
The company may handle the clip outside the EU, including in the United States. Our agreement with it protects the clip there under EU rules: the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU standard contractual clauses.
What we keep
We keep the Adult email, the learner nickname or first name, and practice scores and progress so learning works.
For each try we also keep the word, the score, and the sounds the AI heard, written in phonetic letters. We do not keep the recording.
We keep all of this while the Tutoria account exists. Deleting the account deletes it.
Messages you send us
The form for schools and specialists keeps your name, email, organisation, role, what you would like to do, and your message. We keep them in Tutoria's database, to answer you.
A letter written on the contact page comes to us by email, through Cloudflare, who host our site. We keep it in our inbox, to answer you.
We delete either when you ask. Write to hello@tutoria.ac.
Other services we use
Clerk sends the Adult sign-in codes. RevenueCat records purchases, and Apple takes payment under its own privacy policy. Cloudflare runs our servers and stores the account.
The film on our home page plays from YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and then YouTube plays it under its own privacy policy.
Clerk, RevenueCat, and Cloudflare may use this data only to do that job for us, and must protect it the same way we do.
Deletion and contact
To stop new clips leaving this phone, turn the microphone off for Tutoria in iPhone Settings.
The Adult can delete the Tutoria account in the app, under Profile. To see, correct, or delete what we hold, or if deleting in the app does not work, write to hello@tutoria.ac.
Tutoria is made in Denmark by Tutoria, CVR 44737345, Alsion 2, 6400 Sønderborg. If you are unhappy with how we handle data, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency.
